A: D‑BIS is a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation and suppress immune responses in conditions like asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, and certain autoimmune diseases.


A: Take one 6 mg tablet once daily in the morning, preferably with food to reduce gastrointestinal upset. Your doctor may adjust the dose or taper gradually based on your condition.


A: No. Corticosteroids must be tapered off under medical supervision to prevent withdrawal symptoms or adrenal insufficiency. Always follow your doctor’s tapering schedule.


A: Common side effects include increased appetite, mood changes, and mild fluid retention. Long‑term use can lead to weight gain, osteoporosis, and elevated blood sugar. Report any severe mood swings or signs of infection promptly.


A: Deflazacort may be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed, as steroids can cross the placenta. Lactating mothers should consult their physician, as deflazacort can pass into breast milk.
